Term 3 Week 3

Today we were supposed to visit Manly Beach to introduce our Inquiry topic for this term. Due to the uncertain weather we went to the hall instead.
Apparently Mr Stilwell and Mr Winters found a shipwreck at the beach and they brought it in for us to look at. This is what they found........
In the shipwreck we found 4 bags and each bag had something different in it.
It was our job to figure out:

who did it belong to?what was in the bag?where did they come from?why were they coming to NZ?

Our Inquiry topic for this term is 'Why do people move/migrate'. We had a class discussion and a lot of the class told us they were born in another country. It would be great if you could have a discussion with your child as to the reasons why you moved to New Zealand so that they can share it with us.
This week: (No Cross Country this week) Monday - Inquiry Introduction Tuesday - Dress Rehearsal  Wednesday - Production Thursday - Production Friday - Bikes

Term 3 Week 2

There is only 1 more week till our production of 'There's a Sunflower in my Supper!'

If you have not sent a costume in for your child, can you please do so by Wednesday as we'd like to have a full dress rehearsal.

Here is a sneak peak at one of the songs we will be singing........

This is part of our Physical Education program this term s…

Week 10 Term 2

Week 10 Term 2

This week is our last week of our inquiry for this term.
Our latest experiments were:
Some students wondered if mentos would explode with juice. We tried adding mentos to a bottle of 'Just Juice Bubbles'. Yes it did explode but not as much as when you add it to cola.

Some students thought that maybe it was the sugar that made the mentos explode so we tried adding sugar to soda water and then added the mentos. It didn't explode!

Here is a good explanation about why the mentos and coke explodes https://youtu.be/kKQtBIX6KNg
